The Cuckoo Line, according to Agent Holmbush

The quest begins... 

One of the views enjoyed perhaps by passengers travelling on this part of the line prior to its 1965 closure... 

At this stage the team found that spoil from the Mayfield bypass had been dumped almost to bridge height!!! 

A new series of 'Teletubbies' will start on BBC1 in TREE weeks...

 The team generally finds railway related artefacts on these treks including this reminder of the days of steam traction on the line...

 The team reach their goal; Argos Hill Tunnel, 68 yards in length. Kaptainklutz (right) is seen here chatting to Ghost...

Going up or coming down? Apparently there has been talk of this and other parts of the trackbed north of Heathfield becoming continuations of the Cuckoo Trail; perhaps these steps have been erected as future access...

An extra treat for the team; although signs could be seen warning of falling masonry Klutz and Holmbush upon closer inspection of this three arch bridge could see no evidence of this... 

A number of drainage culverts were still to be seen throughout the trek... 

 The Station House at Mayfield, now a private residence...

These pictures were taken at Knowle Hill Bridge which is around 300 yards away from Mayfield Station. The picture immediately above shows signage warning of electric cabling under the bridge. The team assumed that it was placed there by Westinghouse Ltd. and the cabling was for communication between Signal Boxes on the line...
